2026 Calendar
In 2026 it is proposed we do not offer a Gemini gala or Junior Cup due very low entries in 2025 resulting in a significant financial loss to the league.
At the 2025 AGM a discussion took place on whether to remove the Rother Junior Trophies from the Rother League as it has restrictions on entry times and it was decided a decision would be made in Nov prior to 2026 programme. Despite emailing all clubs several times, only one club responded that they wished it to stay as was in 2025 and another said they did not mind. As a result, we are only offering the Rother League as it was in 2025 as we need to open the web site for entries.
AGM and future of the League
The AGM will be held via zoom on 18th Feb 2026 at 20:00. A zoom link will be emailed to all clubs in the next few days.
Main issue we have is to keep running the league committee members are needed to fulfil roles otherwise we can’t continue to be compliant with Swim England rules. The current chairman will not be standing for election in 2026 due to his commitments to Hampshire county. The secretary is also over committed on other items and cant actively progress league issues. We will also need more committee members to have a quorum. The amount of work is small, but without it the league can’t run. For most of 2025 I have not been able to rely on anyone else to help ensure we have everything in place to ensure smooth running of galas. 2025 was particularly demanding due to clubs withdrawing from galas at short notice and pushing back on hosting tasks rather than actively seeking help from other clubs allocated to their galas themselves. If we can’t solve some of these issues, then this could be the last year the league can run.
