This year round 1 was difficult to seed as there were two major problems which made round 1 slightly unrepresentative of the way the Rother league is designed and some adjustments have been made to give the correct results.
The main issues were:
- There were no teams for division 2 or 3 and so round 1 could not be seeded correctly, although all the teams in division 1 would have been in division 1 due to their previous results. The solution here was to treat the results as if division 1 teams had been split into two galas with the non-existent division 2 teams. This gave the correct scores for the league.See Div 1&2 Gala 1 and Div 1&2 Gala 2 results.
- When Chichester joined late I was unable to re-seed the east and west divisions as both host clubs would have been in the same gala and we would have had no pool for other gala. Here again by moving two teams results to the correct gala I can get the results needed to go into the league table.See Div E&W Gala 1 and Div E&W Gala 2 results.
Before coming to the solution of how to plug the results into the results table Chris did try to modify the formulas and keep the original gala results, but as gala results are first normalised to 6 teams for all galas and then again to division size ready to add to rounds 2 and 3 they became very skewed and did not reflect relative performance.
There will be no issues with round 2 and 3 as they are swum in divisions and your relative position in your division can now be seen on the Rother League Table 2014 (after R1)
